Hippo Point is a private wildlife sanctuary with two top class holiday homes (1930'S Manor House and Dodo’s Tower), located on the shores of Lake Naivasha ; both houses are uniquely design and beautifully set overlooking the Lake. Hippo Point 1930'S Manor House is a magnificent 1930’s British colonial house that was beautifully renovated by Dodo Cunningham-Reid to give a mix feeling of luxury in the wilderness, it’s an intimate home with only eight double bedrooms and an interconnecting single room that is ideal for families; the furniture are carefully selected on a colonial style theme that include a king/double size bed, a mosquito net, a bathroom and a dressing area. Additional facilities at Manor house include a common living room with a fire place, a balcony, a dining area, a kitchen, swimming pool, an open gazebo used for Spa treatments and a nicely done garden.
Hippo Point Dodo’s Tower is a luxury and unique safari home situated just a short distance from the Manor House, an eight-story Tower with four double rooms and a single room that is ideal for kids, it’s a romantic house surrounded by acacia trees overlooking the beautiful Lake, the top deck is used as the tower’s viewing point and has breathtaking views over Oloidien Bay and the Lake full of hippos, birds, giraffes, antelopes, crocodiles, Columbus monkeys, buffaloes among other lesser wildlife. The rooms are furnished with a King/queen size bed, a mosquito net, an en-suite bathroom, a dressing area and a lounge area. Additional facilities include a dining room, a kitchen, a living/lounge area, a balcony, a working room and a meditation room.
Meals at Hippo Point are prepared from locally fresh organic products and spices, the menu combines African and western cuisines with additional fun dishes for kids. The meals are served at the dining area or at your private veranda or on a private nicely set candle lite bush table (on request).
Activities at Hippo point would include relaxing and enjoying various spa treatments on offer, swimming, strolling by the lakeside, boat trips to the island, horse riding, jogging, nature walks, hiking, cycling, water-skiing, yoga, meditation and helicopter safaris along the Great Rift Valley or spare some time for conservation projects.
Hippo Point is just off Moi south lake road; it’s a 1½ hours’ drive from Nairobi, 30 minutes from Naivasha town and 25 minutes via helicopters or chartered flight from Nairobi.
Other attractions near Manor House and Dodo’s Tower includes; visiting nearby Hell’s Gate national park, mounting climbing at Mt Longonot, playing Golf or extending your tour to Lake Nakuru and Lake Elementaita or to the famous Masai Mara.
