This is a 7 days Mount Kilimanjaro Machame route climbing package, the packages include one day acclimatization, five days climbing and descending, and one last night rest at Moshi town. Machame route is said to be slightly less difficult route compared to Umbwe route, it also has very fascinating views and a great route for middle skilled and well fit mountainous.
Machame Route is also referred to as the ‘Whisky Route’ is currently the most popular trail for those looking for challenge. The route itself is scenically very attractive with impressive view of the rain forest, Heather and Moorlands, Shira Plateau, Western Breech, South Western Glacier among others. The seven days will include one day acclimatization, five days climbing and descending, and one last night rest at Moshi town.

On this day, you will be received at Kilimanjaro airport or on an agreed venue in Arusha, briefed about the climb, then driven to Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort; here you will spend the rest of the day acclimatizing and preparing for the five days climb.
Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort is located at Marangu village southeast of Mount Kilimanjaro, a five story hotel, set within a farming region at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro near the Rongai gate; a good place for acclimatization and rest before hiking Kilimanjaro.
On this day after breakfast, you will be driven to Machame gate (1800m), and then will start hiking through the montane forest, up the steep sections to Machame Campsite; where you will spend the rest of the day; relaxing and preparing for next day hike. This day’s hike will take about 5 to 6 hours to get to Machame Campsite, which is about 3,000m high.
On this day, you will continue with the hike, taking you through the steep ridges, across the heath and moorland, the Shira Plateau, uphill to Shira Cave. This day’s hike will take about 4 to 6 hours to get to Shira caves, which is about 9 km walk and 3,800m high.
On this day will have an early breakfast, then continue with the hike through the semi deserts to Lava Tower; where you will have a picnic lunch, then continue through the moorland, up the hill to Barranco. This section has superb views of the Western Breech Wall, the Valley and the Great Barranco Wall. Barranco is situated at 3900m high; this day’s hike will be about 6 – 7 hours hike.
On this day after breakfast, will start by hiking up the Barranco Wall; a 500ft lava flow, it’s challenging but not so technical. Once on top of the "wall", the climb becomes easier and extremely beautiful with fantastic views of the crags and crevasses of the jagged peaks of Kibo on your left. Lastly we descend into the Karanga Valley then up to the camp; this day’s Hike will be about 3 to 4 hours.
On this day, will leave the camp at midnight, begin by hiking up and down the slopes, hills and rocky areas to Barafu; Barafu means "ice" in Swahili, it is an extremely windy and cold section. At this point, everyone is excited and anticipating of the toughest summit climb ahead. Then continue up to the peak of Mawenzi, painted with colors of the African sun, slowly up over the rocky outcrops to the top of the rim before the sunrise; here you will have the opportunity to capture the stunning sunrise view, the scenic beauty beneath the mountain and the snow-capped peak.
After that you will descent through Barafu, where will have a brief rest for lunch, then continue to Mweka Camp at about 2800m.
On this morning after breakfast, you will continue descending for 3-4 hour to the gate, where the tour vehicle will meet you and drive you to Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort; here you will be handed over your climbing certificate, freshen up, have lunch and a brief rest before being transferred to the airport for your evening flight.
