The Naro Moru route is a more straight forward route to climb Mount Kenya; it’s a 5 days /4 night’s itinerary that will take you through the beautiful sceneries of Mt Kenya. The hike will start at Mt Kenya National park main entrance to metro station, then to Mackinders and finally to the highest point Lenana. This route has spectacular sceneries that include Valleys, lakes, bamboo forest, birds’ species, trees, antelopes, zebras and many more.
This is a 5 days /4 night’s hiking tour of Mount Kenya via Naro Moru route, it's a more straight forward route to climb Mount Kenya, with only camping accommodation. The tour beging with a sleep over at Naro Moru River Lodge, where you will be taken through the hiking preparations as you acclimatize.
The Naro Moru route will take you through the bamboo forest, rosewood and vegetation to Met Station,then trek through the moorlands and Teleki valley to Mackinder point, and then continue with the hike through the steep slopes and across the rugged rocks up to Point Lenana (the highest peak).
Mount Kenya has the second highest peak in Africa, At a height of 5199 meters above sea level, Mount Kenya has three peaks, Batian 5,199m, Nelion 5,188m and point Lenana 4,985m; out of the three main points only point Lenana that can be reached by trekking, the rest are done by well trained technical rock climbers. What Mount Kilimanjaro offers in altitude, Mount Kenya surpasses it in its beauty; Mount Kenya offers a wealth of views from the unique formation of the U-shaped valleys, Lakes, tarns, the dense bamboo forest, Montana forest and the unique high altitude Alpine zone.

On this day you will depart Nairobi for Naro Moru town, arrive in time for lunch at Naro Moru River Lodge, here you will be welcomed by your guide who will brief you about the climb and also help you prepare all the equipment required. Then you will spend the rest of the day acclimatizing at the Lodge and watching birds.
Naro Moru River Lodge is located on the equator on the slopes of Mount Kenya, the hotel has luxury Cottages and Country homes and it lies on 6,500ft above the sea level making it an ideal place for acclimatizing. The Country homes consist of a 3 bedrooms house with a fully equipped self catering kitchen, a toilet, bathtub and showers; the country homes are ideal for families and small groups. Activities at the lodge would include swimming, walking, Horse Riding, Fishing at the river and playing tennis.
After breakfast, you will be driven to the park’s main entrance gate, after the clearance you will hike for approximately 5 hours (a distance of 10km) through the rainy forest to the met station, on arrival have a late lunch at the hut then spend the rest of the day acclimatizing and enjoying the wonderful views (met station is about 3,000m above sea level). Dinner and overnight will be at the hut.

After enjoying our delicious breakfast, will continue with the climb through Teleki valley to Mackinder’s camp for around 5-6 hours. On this point, you will start to get spectacular views of mountain’s peaks and the vegetation that surround Mount Kenya; Mackinders point is about 4200m above sea level. Dinner and overnight will be at the hut.
On this day, will wake up very early for the final climb to Point Lenana(17,058 ft above sea level), on arrival if the weather permits will have a clear view of the summit scenery. Having conquered Mount Kenya, will have some time to take your memorable photographs and a picnic lunch, then will start descending back to Mackinders. Dinner and overnight will be at the hut.
After breakfast descent back to the mountain main gate, where you will say bye to your guide, cook and the beautiful sceneries of Mount Kenya; here our driver who will be waiting for you will drive you to Naro Moru River lodge to pick up your luggage before departing for Nairobi (at the airport or at an agreed place in Nairobi).
