Jahazi House is a beautiful beach house named after an historical dhow trading activity in the area; it’s a very intimate and pleasant beach home with the Swahili traditional architectural design, modern interior and decoration. The house is set on a spacious, quiet and friendly atmosphere overlooking the Indian Ocean.
The main accommodation at Jahazi House are in 4 spacious double bed en suite rooms and one twin bed suite room, all rooms are simply furnished with en suite shower bathrooms, a Lamu four poster bed, mosquito net, ceiling fan, dressing table and own private veranda. The verandas have a writing desk, occasional table, chairs and a traditional Lamu day bed.
Meals at Jahazi House are well planned and prepared from fresh local product that include exotic fruits, vegetables, exquisite sea food, African and international cuisines; the meals are usually served at the main dining area or on the verandah.
Jahazi House has a well equipped kitchen for self-catering and if you prefer to take it easy, there is a chef on site who is happy to create delicious dishes for all guests, a laundry room, a swimming pool, a massage area, indoor and outdoor lounge areas. The activities would include surfing, swimming, diving, fishing, boat trips to the island and bird watching.
The simplest way to get to Jahazi House; is fly to Manda Island airstrip then take a boat ride to the house, there are daily scheduled flights from Nairobi Wilson airport, Mombasa Moi international airport and Malindi airport.
Other attractions near Jahazi House includes; visiting nearby marine national parks, city excursion to major museums, zoos, historical sites, mosques, traditional markets in the region; Day trips to the ruined 14th century fort on Manda Island, Tours of local boat-building and mat-weaving industries and sailing trips to Kinyika Island and other islands in the area.
Jahazi House is located in the middle of a very remote and secluded area; there are no modern shops or market places nearby; so it’s advisable to buy all your essential items in the major towns before travelling to Jahazi House.
