Saruni Samburu Lodge is nicely perched on the hills of the Kalama Conservancy overlooking the beautiful hills and valleys of Samburu escarpment north of Kenya; it’s a luxury lodge stylishly designed to capture all elements of African wilderness and safari; the lodge is nicely secluded on a 95,000 acres of private community Ranch and offer luxury accommodation, excellent services among other hotel facilities.
Kalama Conservancy is in the middle of other private conservancies and Samburu national park ; it’s usually used as a migratory corridor by major wildlife crossing from north to south in search of food and water. It’s a great place to watch wildlife especially on the dry season.
Accommodation is in five very unique self-contained cottages/villas, the family villas have additional space for extra kid bed and an interconnecting room for three more children. The villas/cottages are nicely spread for privacy and have a 360 degree view of the valleys and hills below; the rooms are uniquely furnished with a king/double bed, a mosquito net, own suite bathroom, a dressing area, a private veranda, a lounge area and a small garden.
Meals at Saruni Samburu Lodge are prepared from locally fresh organic products and spices, the menu combines African and western cuisines with additional fun dishes for kids. The meals are served at the dining area or at your private veranda or on a private nicely set candle lite bush table (on request).
Additional hotel facilities at Saruni Samburu Lodge include 2 large infinity swimming pools, a beauty or wellness spa, a private airstrip, a bar with wireless internet access, a gift shop, miles of wilderness to explore, water-hole that attracts animals close to the lodge, a special honeymoon cottage and family villas, a comfortable sitting and dining room, an open fireplace and lounge areas. Saruni Samburu is located at the heart of the Kalama Community Wildlife Conservancy, neighboring Samburu National Reserve to the north; the lodge can be accessed through the Kalama Gate. The best and easiest way to get to Saruni Lodge is via chartered flight to Saruni airstrip or scheduled flights to Oryx Samburu airstrip. By road, its approximately 4 ½ hours’ drive from Nairobi.
Other attractions near Saruni Lodge would include going on a safari to the neighboring Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Samburu and Shaba national park. Mountain climbing at Mount Kenya and mount Lololokwe. Visit to the Chimpanzees refugee center at Ol Pajeta and other private conservancies in the region.
Saruni Lodge is located in the middle of a very remote area; there are no modern shops or market places nearby; so it’s advised to buy all your essential items in major towns before traveling to Saruni Lodge. The closest big town is Nanyuki, its 2 hours’ drive from the Lodge.
