Tassia lodge is nicely perched on the slopes of Il Ngwesi valley overlooking the beautiful hills and valleys of Mokogodo Escarpment in the former Laikipia North District; it’s a luxury lodge stylishly designed to capture all elements of African wilderness and safari; the lodge is nicely secluded on a 60,000 acre private community Ranch with comfortable accommodation, excellent services and hotel facilities.
Accommodation is in six very unique Bandas (bungalow); the Bandas are beautifully constructed from local materials that include the large wooden logs, thatched roof, stones, clay among other African artifacts and decoration. The bandas are nicely spaced for privacy and have wide open windows with panoramic view of the wilderness; all the rooms are comfortably furnished with a king size bed, own bathroom, a dressing area, a balcony lounge area, a mosquito net and enough space for an extra bed for kids.
Meals at Tassia lodge are prepared from locally fresh organic products and spices, the menu combines African and western cuisines with additional fun dishes for kids. The meals are served at the main dinning tent or on a private nicely set candle lite bush table.
In between the game drives or on your free time, the lodge has a nice swimming pool to cool you down; a relaxing deck to relax during the day, a health Spa, a camp bar and lounge area, a restaurant/dining area, a viewing deck, a gift shop, honeymoon and family Banda with a children bunkhouse.
No guest are bored at Tassia lodge as they can enjoy exciting morning and evening game drives, guided nature and safari walks, bird watching trips, night game drives and walks to see some of the nocturnal species, horse riding, mountain hiking, bush breakfasts and sun-downer bush dinners, picnic lunches, intercultural trips to the local Masaai villages or just relax at the camp to enjoy various health Spa, swimming or reading your favorite book.
The best time to visit Tassia lodge is during summer time or on the dry season, on the dry season the river and water holes attract a good number of wildlife that include Elephants, Buffalo, Giraffe, Greater and Lesser Kudu, Gerenuk, Waterbuck , Grevy Zebra, leopard, wild dog, striped hyena among others.
NB: The lodge is usually CLOSED during the high rainy season (April and November).
The best and easiest way to get to Tassia lodge is flying to Tassia Airstrip on a private charter flight then a few minutes’ drive to the lodge, alternative take a domestic flight to Nanyuki or Lewa Wildlife Conservancy then a 2 hours’ road transfer. By road is approximately 5 hours’ drive from Nairobi.
Other attractions near Tassia lodge would include going on a safari to the neighboring Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Samburu and Shaba national park. Mountain climbing at Mount Kenya and mount Lololokwe. Visit to the Chimpanzees refugee center at Ol Pajeta and other private conservancies in the region.
The Tassia lodge is located in the middle of a very remote area; there are no modern shops or market places nearby; so it’s advised to buy all your essential items in major towns before traveling to Ol Lentille lodge. The closest big town is Nanyuki town, it’s a 2 hours’ from the lodge.
