The Ark Lodge is a gorgeous game lodge that overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick which attracts a wide range of wildlife. This lodge is uniquely built to resemble the actual Ark, having numerous balconies and lounges that overlook the spectacular view of the waterhole.
The Ark has 4 viewing areas where the guests can enjoy the breath taking views of the ever-present animal activity at the waterhole and salt-lick. There is also a ground level hidden area near the waterhole; a perfect spot for photographers wishing to take close photos of wildlife.
The Ark Lodge is a five star lodge which has 60 cabins. All cabins have private bathrooms with shower, 115/240v shaving socket, shower stall, washbasin and flush toilets. They are furnished with bedside lamps and carpeted floors to ward off the evening and morning chill. Close to the cabins are views of the forest and waterhole. Cabins are provided with water flasks and glasses, hot water bottles and extra blankets.
The Ark provides the guest a menu with a combination of European and Kenyan dishes, made from fresh Kenyan produce. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are Table d'hôte. Lunch is only served to guests staying for more than one night, or upon special request. Seating capacity of the main dining area is up to 140 people.
The Ark Lodge offers full day game drives in the Aberdare national reserve and the Solio sanctuary, nature walks, mountain climbing, bird watching, fishing, horse riding, swimming, fully equipped gym and bush dinning.
The simplest way to get to The Ark Lodge is by air. A chartered flight will start off at Wilson Airport in Nairobi and land at Mweiga air strip. The air strip is 30 minutes away for the camp and is therefore accessed by road. It takes 2 hours to access the lodge by road from Nairobi.
