About Dubai

Dubai is the most populous city and one of the seven emirates within the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it is located on the northern coastline, along the Arabian Peninsula, on the south west corner of the Arabian Gulf. Dubai city expanded along the Creek with its two major business districts – Deira that is located on the northern side and Bur Dubai to the southern side, both regions are connected by a tunnel and two bridges.  Besides the two major business districts, the city also extend to the neighboring emirate of Sharjah to the north, south and west to the Gulf through the districts of Satwa, Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim to the new Dubai.

Dubai is well known for its luxury shopping centers, extravagant and lavish lifestyle, ultramodern architecture, all year round sunshine, intriguing desert mountains, beautiful beaches, luxurious hotels, warm hospitality and rich cultural heritage that attracts millions of tourists and business visitors from all over the world.

Weather

Dubai is generally hot with a desert climate, the days are usually sunny and the nights are usually humid. The summer in Dubai are extremely hot, windy and humid with an average day temperature of 41 °C and 30 °C at night, August is the hottest month). The winter in Dubai is generally warm with an average temperature of 24 °C and 14 °C at night, January is the coldest month.

Getting around in Dubai

Dubai has a modern public mode of transport that is efficient and comfortable; from your arrival at Dubai International Airport, you can easily connect to all major regions of the city. There are scheduled buses, Metros and Trams; the Metro runs through the city, from Dubai Airport all the way to Jebel Ali which is right at the other end of town. The newly installed Dubai Tram, runs south along the seaside to destinations such as the JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) and Palm Jumeirah.

For maximum use of Dubai’s public transport system, it is advised to purchase a prepaid Nol card, which can be used for the Metro, Tram, buses and taxis. Nol cards can be purchased from any of the Metro stations and selected bus stations in Dubai.
