Manda bay is a top end beach Lodge located on the northern tip of Manda Island in the Lamu Archipelago, north coast of Kenya. Manda bay is an intimate beach lodge situated on a very secluded area at Manda bay, with only 12 luxury cottages set on sand dunes and surrounded by tropical gardens and un-spoilt white sandy beaches. The Cottages are nicely designed and decorated entirely from local materials, with nicely woven floor mats and high thatched makuti roofs.
Accommodation is in 12 luxury beach cottages that are pleasantly designed and decorated to details; each room has a large ceiling fans, en-suite bathroom, own private veranda overlooking the Ocean, a lounge area, dressing area, king size bed, a mosquito net and a telephone
Meals at Manda Bay are prepared from freshly caught sea foods and other delicious African and international dishes; The meals are usually served at the dining area/private verandah or on a nicely set garden or beach front candle lit table or on a Manda bay traditional sailing dhow.
Some of the facilities at Manda bay include a swimming pool, lounge areas with veranda/garden/beach hammocks, restaurant/dining, a games room (with a pool table, darts and table tennis), beauty or wellness therapy room among others.
Manda Bay is situated in a location that offers a huge array of beach and water sport activities; these would include canoeing, snorkeling, water skiing, doughnut rides, kite boarding, sand yachting, fishing trips, motor boat or dhow sailing excursions to other remote islands with a picnics lunch sampling your own freshly caught fish, oyster picking, treasure hunting, swimming with dolphins among other beach activities.
The best and easiest way to get to Manda Bay from Nairobi; is flying from Wilson airport to Manda Airport or flying to Lamu airstrip and taking a private boat to the Lodge. By road, it would take about 8 hours’ drive from Nairobi to Lamu or 3 hours from Mombasa then take a 20 minutes boat ride to the Lodge.
Other attractions near Manda Bay includes; visiting nearby marine national parks, city excursion to major museums, zoos, historical sites, mosques, traditional markets in the region; Day sailing trips to nearby islands, scenic flights and helicopter safaris to nearby national reserve, cultural trips to nearby villages and ancient ruins.
Manda Bay is located in the middle of a very remote and secluded area; there are no modern shops or market places nearby; so it’s advisable to buy all your essential items in the major towns before traveling to Manda Dream.
